Ostfriesische Tee Gesellschaft executes stocktaking with STATCONTROL Cloud

Sampling inventory as easy as never before - under this motto REMIRA launched STATCONTROL Cloud last year, revolutionizing the tried and tested sampling inventory. The SaaS solution combines all the well-known advantages of inventory sampling, such as the reduced counting effort of more than 95%, with the simple and fast functionality of an intuitively managed cloud solution. René Rodenberg, IT Projects & Development employee at OTG, was also quickly convinced of this:

"The old STATCONTROL solution was simply no longer up to date for us, and in addition we were still carrying out different inventories with the high-calculation method and the sequential test. In the cloud, we now have all statistical procedures under one roof and can perform almost every administrative activity internally." 

Stocktaking without installation and consulting effort

The web-based solution allows the sample to be logged on and run directly, without the need for extensive prior knowledge or the need for external partners or IT. The advantages of a cloud solution were also obvious for OTG: more flexibility and mobility, high automation and significantly improved collaboration. "The self-explanatory application guided us step by step through the inventory and specified the items to be counted. We then only had to record the counting results on the screen," summarizes Rodenberg.

Ostfriesische Tee Gesellschaft is a fourth-generation family business and a subsidiary of Laurens Spethmann Holding AG & Co. KG. Around 800 employees at four locations are responsible for OTG alone, producing around 8 billion tea bags every year. The parent company also owns brands such as Meßmer, Milford, Yasashi and Onno Behrends. STATCONTROL Cloud was used company-wide at ten sites this year. Depending on the inventory quality, either the extrapolation method or the sequential test was used to simplify the stocktaking, explains René Rodenberg:

"On average, it only took two to three hours to record the count items per location. In the warehouses with the sequential test, 32 items had to be counted; in those with the extrapolation method, it was between 200 and 380 items. In addition to the proven advantages of the sample stocktaking, we were thus also able to reduce our IT expenses and carry out the recording process in a modern cloud environment."

By moving to the cloud, the REMIRA solution can now also be used in conjunction with a counting app. This enables paperless counting directly on mobile devices. This means that not only the initial inventory can be taken, but also the recount process or the auditor's check can be done with this. OTG is also considering using the app for the next stocktaking in June 2024.
