MPreis: More availability and less time

The Austrian supermarket chain MPREIS stores around 20,000 products in the central warehouse near Innsbruck. In order to avoid bottlenecks and excessive stocks, the family-owned company manages its stores and logistics center with LOGOMATE. The result: a lower inventory with higher product availability.

Receive fresh goods according to demand

LOGOMATE supports MPREIS in supplying 220 stores and planning the products in the logistics center near Innsbruck. The planning of fresh goods such as the more than 1,000 organic products from MPREIS is particularly challenging. Unnecessarily high inventories cost the company dearly. This is where LOGOMATE starts: With the help of our intelligent software, MPREIS reduces its inventory and at the same time increases the availability of goods. This is made possible thanks to LOGOMATE’s forecasting function, which uses sales figures to calculate which goods will sell and how it will sell in the future. Precise sales forecasts determine the necessary requirements and safety stocks for each item at each location. A wide range of influencing factors such as seasonal effects as well as discount promotions and new releases are taken into account. Out-of-stock situations are thus consistently avoided. In the future, LOGOMATE will be used in all MPREIS markets, as Sebastian Mölk, Managing Director of MPREIS, explains:

“With LOGOMATE as a central dispotool, we will soon be planning 300 locations exactly and as needed, with little personal effort.” 

Lower stocks, but never out-of-stock

In the central warehouse, LOGOMATE is currently used for inventory management and scheduling of 90% of the dry assortment as well as for some of the dairy articles and the egg products. Up to 1.2 million items (SKUs) are ordered for the markets every day via the software. The use of LOGOMATE has a noticeable effect, especially for the employees of MPREIS: In each store, ordering costs per day could be reduced by up to 45 minutes per day. This is mainly due to the fact that MPREIS achieves more accurate subsequent deliveries with LOGOMATE and distributes the goods issue more evenly over the weekdays, so that peaks are missing. Above all, stocks have been significantly reduced, while at the same time avoiding sell-off situations:

“In various product groups, we see effects of increased product availability, such as an exact implementation of the centrally predetermined assortments and a reduction in sales and sales increases,”

sums up Sebastian Mölk, and adds:

“We chose LOGOMATE to achieve exactly these effects described. Subsequently, we would like to add the picking service to the
control central warehouses more appropriately.”
